In England, people take their pets everywhere. I first noticed it on public transport, and as I type right now I'm sharing my train foot space with a particularly odiforous canine. Gross.
A few days ago I stood behind a cage of ferrets on the escalator, just at my nose level, with no option but to inhale their breath and stare at the horrible things as we crowded for space on the ascent. I don't know who was more scared about the whole experience.
In France, we were amused to see in the hotel reception a tariff for pets. Pets in a hotel.
Glad to know that if I have to revert to plan B (aka the crazy cat lady plan), Fluffy, Snowy, and Ginga will be warmly welcomed in Europe.
