Big Yellow Ball

Something really weird happened in England today.

The sky turned a weird colour, a kind of blue... the clouds disappeared, and a huge yellow ball appeared in the sky, emitting light and heat and goodness.
It made the grass grow, the birds sing, people even smiled. It was really quite unsettling.
Thankfully it was short lived. The clouds have returned, the big hot yellow ball has gone back to where it came from (the southern hemisphere, I think), and life has returned to normal.
It’s supposed to be the Summer Solstice tonight. Not entirely sure what that means, but until now on the sun* has been acting like a naughty two year old, rising at 5am and refusing to go down until 10:30pm. But apparently from now on it will start behaving itself. Good ol’ Summer Solstice, whatever you are. Thanks for restoring my circadian rhythms, I’ve missed them.

(* I use the word ‘sun’ with caution. Up here, sun does not equal heat and goodness. Just light.)
